The Automatic Toll System (OGS) has provided ease of passage for highway and bridge users for years. However, with the recent decision of the General Directorate of Highways (KGS), this system is now history. OGS and HGS
For many years, OGS and HGS were known as automatic toll systems in Turkey. The two separate systems occasionally caused confusion for users. Not knowing which system was active, especially at highway toll booths, caused confusion for many drivers.
The existence of these two systems made toll booth crossings even more complicated, especially in heavy traffic. Since drivers did not know which lane was suitable for which toll system, they frequently needed to change lanes. This caused traffic disruptions and sometimes accidents.
A Single System for Efficiency
Considering this confusion and the difficulties experienced by drivers, the General Directorate of Highways decided to provide service through a single automatic toll system. For this reason, it was decided to remove OGS. One of the main reasons for this change was to provide drivers with a faster and uninterrupted service.
As of March 31, 2022, only the HGS system began to be used at all highway and bridge crossings. With this change, many advantages such as:
